Final Plan Approved
The Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) has approved the Master Plan Update for Queen City Airport (XLL).
The Lehigh-Northampton Airport Authority joined lead engineering firm, C&S Companies in revising two preferred alternative concepts of the Airport Layout Plan (ALP) to meet FAA requirements with the support of vital insight from tenants and users obtained from a public workshop and public comment period.
The process identified infrastructure improvements with safety-related projects assuming the highest priority. The highest priority project – the design and rehabilitation of Runway 15-33 – is already underway.
Other enhancements depicted on the ALP include: the need for additional hangar space, an improved aviation fuel farm, renovated and expanded terminal building, and other airfield pavement projects.
The timing of proposed development projects is dictated by forecasted demand, ALP project priority, and available funding resources from the FAA and PennDOT Bureau of Aviation.
Queen City Airport received a FAA grant of $147,330 to update the Airport Master Plan in August 2017.
